Review on the meatballs show
I realized i have not came to this blog for a long time.. and the last post is on 1 Jan by K..
Alritez, yesterdae E , K and me went to TM to watch 'Cloudy with a chance of meatballs (in 3D)'!!!! Its a fantastic movie and totally change my mindset of watching animation in the cinema is a waste of money.
there is a lot of first time for me. This is the first time i watch 3D show, this is the first time i watch an animation at a cinema, this is the first time i ate Qi Ji nasi lemak and tis is the first time i watch movie with E and K together.
Wats so fantastic about the show???
Firstly, the graphics are awesome. The colours, the drawings, the animations... I am really amazed by the animations as every single actions from the movement of food dropping down from the sky to the little actions of the characters. The attempts to pull moustache by Flint's pet monkey and the turning of heads at the nick of time is one of the classic example. The 3D effects help in making the animations more 'real'. (despite the fact that the special specs does not fit well with the spectacles which cause some discomfort.)
Unlike some animations, the story development is really well-developed and make the characters come alive. I like the part they compare and contrast two sets of father and son relationship with one keep telling the son that he loves him while other using actions to show his love and concern for his child.
Many themes are explored in this movie.
It addressed the problem about hunger problem across the world with 1 out of 6 people in the world surviving in hunger. The creation of the machine which will rain down food maybe a dream to solve this hunger problem. However, humans are greedy as protrayed by the Mayor who wants more n better n bigger food which caused huge problems as it started raining down huge food. Similar to the real world, since industrialization, people have been taking advantage of technology to mass produce resulting in many different kinds of pollution, causing harm to the environment.
Every one has a dream and ambition when young. However as we grow older, the dream seems increasingly impossible. I remembered my childhood dream is to be a scientist, well I wonder will I ever fulfill my dream?
The reality of the world has forced us to move with the crowd and do what is acceptable by the crowd. Wearing contact lenses, being slim... are some examples of ways to be prettier... But in actual fact does it makes you happier? Being urself is hard. Well I think that there is nothing wrong being a nerd and in fact I am proud to be one...
There is a trend of shifitng of shows focusing on mother-child relationship to father-child relationship. Men generally do not express their love and concern verbally which may cause misunderstanding between the child and him.
The most common theme - love is explored. The love b/w Flint and Sam, the love b/w Flint and his father, the love Flint ha for his town.
The movie has somewhat revive my passion for Science. Science has always been my favourite subject second by Chinese and Art. It is always so interesting to study Science.. whichever science. however as we grew older, the concepts become more and more complex and difficult to grasp. It is not as easy as I thought. Many people around me seems to enter the business world which is seen as a more viable route. Is that really the case? How far can I go then in the world of Science? Or will I surrender and enter the business world with the business politics surrounding me? But there is one thing for certain that is I will still love Science even though I may not be doing something related to it in the future.
All in all, this show is fanatisc. I gave it 5/5! If you have time and some spare cash, go watch this movie but do not go in with an empty stomach.
